The Pelican
After the funeral services we had a "Celebration Of Life" at a club house on the water overlooking at Sapelo Sound and onto the Atlantic Ocean.
Nanny always had a love for pelicans. A wild pelican swam up to the Club House during the Celebration of Her Life. Soon the pelican leaped over the stone covered bank and continued to make its way to the club house. The pelican leaped off the fire pit and went straight to Isabella (Izzy). Jay tried to feed the pelican some of the food at the party, but it would not eat. Then the bird scaled the steps and walked around the porch - totally surrounded by people - to the door to the inside. Action had to be taken to prevent the bird from entering. With no influence from food, we do not understand why this wild pelican would come up to the club house, up the stairs, and almost make its way into a crowded room. All this while being totally fearless of the multitude of people watching.

The Double Rainbow
On Saturday January 11, 2013, a true miracle occurred. It rained most of the day, a violent thunderstorm, high winds, loss of power for a bit - in general just a bad day. We sat around the house waiting for high tide as we wanted to commit a bit of Nelda's ashes to the sea behind our house - as she loved the beach so much. At about 6:00 p.m. about 25 of us went down to the dock with the spray of flowers and some of Nelda's ashes. Of course, each of us had a glass of white wine - her favorite. We played the Luke Bryant song "Drink a Beer" and each of us had a glass of wine with her. We then placed the flowers in the water and poured some ashes on them. As they floated away, look what happened.

A Double Rainbow Symbolizes a transformation in life. The first rainbow represents the material and the second the spiritual. In Chinese culture red is symbolic of the feet and violet represents the head. So a Primary Rainbow can be seen to illustrate a human descending from heaven. As stated before, the secondary arc in a Double Rainbow has reversed colors so, since the red is on the bottom and the violet is on top, the human figure is ascending from the material earth to the spiritual heaven. Therefore seeing a Double Rainbow is considered a very auspicious occasion and a reason for reflection and meditation.”
